📋 About This Role
We are seeking a Principal Subsea Engineer with specialized expertise in flexible pipeline and riser systems to join our Kuala Lumpur engineering center. You will act as the technical authority for the design, analysis, and installation of flexible flowlines, risers, and jumpers for deepwater FPSO developments. This role requires deep technical knowledge of dynamic riser systems and a strong background in global EPCI projects.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
Lead the detailed engineering and design of flexible pipeline and riser systems, including static flowlines and dynamic catenary/steep wave risers.
Perform global riser analysis using OrcaFlex, including strength, fatigue, and interference assessments.
Develop and review technical specifications, datasheets, and installation procedures for flexible pipe.
Support the procurement process, including technical evaluation of flexible pipe vendors (e.g., major flexible pipe vendors).
Provide technical support for installation engineering, including lay spread, hang-off, and pull-in operations.
Ensure compliance with API 17J, API 17B, and DNV-RP-F401 standards.
Interface with the FPSO topsides team to define riser porch and I-tube configurations.
✅ Core Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Ocean, or Subsea Engineering.
15+ years of experience in subsea engineering, with a minimum of 8 years focused on flexible pipe systems.
Expert proficiency in OrcaFlex for dynamic riser analysis.
In-depth knowledge of flexible pipe construction, end-fittings, and bend stiffeners.
Experience with deepwater FPSO projects (1,500m+ water depth).
Strong understanding of installation methodologies (S-lay, J-lay, reel-lay).
Proven ability to lead technical reviews and mentor junior engineers.
Fluent English; proficiency in Malay or other regional languages is a plus.
💡 Preferred Qualifications
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status.
Experience with rigid riser or umbilical systems as a secondary skill.
