Position Overview
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for executing quality control inspection and testing activities on offshore oil and gas construction, hook-up, and commissioning projects. This hands-on role ensures that all work is performed in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, and codes, providing the first line of quality defence on the installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for offshore construction, hook-up, and commissioning activities
- Perform visual welding inspection and coordinate NDE activities (RT, UT, MT, PT)
- Verify material traceability and review mill certificates and heat numbers against specifications
- Conduct dimensional inspections of fabricated structures, piping, and equipment
- Review and verify welder qualifications and welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- Prepare and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and track resolution
- Witness and document hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and leak testing activities
- Perform incoming inspection of materials and equipment delivered to the offshore installation
- Maintain quality inspection records, punch lists, and certification documentation
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors and Notified Body representatives
- Verify compliance with preservation requirements during construction and hook-up phases
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning quality verification activities
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Welding Engineering
- Certifications: CSWIP 3.1 (Minimum); OPITO BOSIET/FOET; ASNT Level II in at least one NDE method
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in QC inspection within oil and gas, with offshore construction experience
- Technical Skills: Visual welding inspection, NDE coordination and interpretation, ITP execution, hydrotesting witness, material traceability, ASME/API code knowledge, NCR management
Preferred
- CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
- Multiple NDE method qualifications (RT, UT, MT, PT)
- Piping and structural inspection experience
- BGAS painting inspection qualification

Key Skills Gap: QC Engineers are relatively available, but those with strong welding inspection credentials (CSWIP 3.2) and multiple NDE method competence are harder to find. Offshore hook-up QC experience is valued over yard-based experience.
