Subsea Mooring System Design Engineer

A leading international EPC contractor is seeking a Subsea Mooring System Design Engineer to deliver design and analysis for mooring systems supporting FPSO, semi-submersible, and other floating structures across the APAC offshore region.You will be responsible for mooring line layout, cable selection, tension analysis, and positioning design. Conducting hydrodynamic coupling analysis, mooring fatigue assessment, and extreme weather condition verification, you will ensure all designs meet DNV and API safety and stability standards.This role offers excellent exposure to floating offshore structure projects with strong career development support.

• Design and analyze subsea/floating structure mooring systems (FPSO, semi-submersible), including mooring line layout, cable selection, tension analysis, and positioning design
• Conduct hydrodynamic coupling analysis, mooring fatigue assessment, and extreme weather (typhoon) condition verification
• Prepare mooring system design documents and construction schemes
• Cooperate with offshore installation teams for commissioning and operational support
• Ensure design meets DNV, API mooring safety and stability standards
• Conduct mooring system optimization and risk assessment
• Prepare technical reports and engineering documentation

• Proficient in analysis software: OrcaFlex, ANSYS AQWA, or MOSES; skilled in mooring system dynamic analysis
• In-depth understanding of mooring materials (chain, steel wire, synthetic rope) and installation technology
• Experience in floating structure mooring design (FPSO or semi-submersible)
• Ability to conduct mooring system optimization, risk assessment, and troubleshooting
• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, or related
• 5+ years of mooring design experience in offshore oil and gas projects
• Fluent English communication and report writing skills

• Experience with spread mooring and turret mooring systems for FPSO
• Familiarity with typhoon survival analysis and harsh environment mooring design
• Knowledge of DNV OS E301, API RP 2SM, or equivalent mooring standards
• Experience with classified FPSO operators (e.g., MODEC, BW Offshore, Bumi Armada)
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification

• Competitive daily rate: USD 300 – 450 per day (commensurate with experience)
• Permanent salary: MYR 9,000 – 15,000/month + allowances
