SBM Offshore has secured contracts from Petrobras to design, build, and operate two FPSOs for the Sergipe-Alagoas basin offshore Brazil. SEAP-II (P-87) will produce 120,000 bpd with 425 mmscfd gas treatment capacity, delivering in 2030. SEAP-I (P-81) will produce 120,000 bpd with 355 mmscfd gas treatment, delivering in 2031. Both utilize SBM's Fast4Ward® hulls (11th and 12th) and will operate in 2,500m water depth with spread mooring.

ExxonMobil has submitted an environmental application to Guyana's EPA for the Haimara project in the Stabroek block—potentially the consortium's 9th development. Unlike previous oil-focused projects, Haimara targets gas-condensate with potential FPSO and subsea gas compression infrastructure. The EPA has mandated a full environmental impact assessment given the project's scale.

Leading FPSO Contractor, Brazil | 8+ years offshore gas processing; deepwater FPSO experience; Brazil project background preferred
Major IOC, Guyana | 10+ years subsea compression/boosting; gas-condensate experience; deepwater project track record
NCS Operator, Norway | 5+ years subsea IMR/intervention; Arctic offshore experience; ROV operations knowledge

Offshore Drilling Contractor, Global | 10+ years drillship operations; ultra-deepwater experience; well control certification
This week's dual FPSO awards in Brazil and the Haimara gas project application in Guyana confirm deepwater offshore as the industry's primary growth engine through 2030. Two critical trends are reshaping talent demand: gas monetization expertise is becoming premium as projects shift from pure oil to gas-condensate and associated gas processing, and water depth specialization (2,500m+) is creating a distinct skills tier with 25-30% compensation premiums. Taiwan offshore wind commissioning activity is peaking ahead of 2027 commercial operation deadlines, creating temporary but acute demand for large-turbine commissioning specialists. The structural shortage of deepwater drilling talent is intensifying as dayrates exceed $450,000—contractor competition for experienced drilling engineers is at a decade high.
